TechnoMarine watches founded in 1997 in Geneva Switzerland by French entrepreneur Frank Dubarry created quite a stir in watch industry during its very first years. In late 1999, TechnoMarine introduced one of the very first chronographs for women named the TechnoDiamond.
With an unheard of 39mm diameter sized case in polished stainless steel, mother-of-pearl chronograph dial, pave diamond-set rotating bezel and an interchangeable translucent gel strap in a wide variety of fashion colors along with water-resistance to 200 meters, the TechnoMarine TechnoDiamond wristwatch revolutionized the watch industry and became a fashion phenomenon by the summer of 2000.
TechnoMarine not only started the fashion trend for women’s chronographs, it also started the trend for larger oversized women’s timepieces as well. Prior to the debut of the TechnoDiamond timepiece, women’s watches were no larger than 30mm in size. What’s more the watch was also one of the firsts to feature diamonds in sporty style you could wear at the beach or by the pool without worrying about getting your watch wet.
The TechnoMarine TechnoDiamond chronograph also set the trend for interchangeable watch straps, featuring everything from the colorful gel straps it originally debuted with to leather, snakeskin, crocodile, alligator and other exotic skin straps in a wide variety of colors. There were even genuine mink and faux fur straps you could wear with your TechnoDiamond watch.
The brand’s sporty Cruise and Raft chronographs featuring 40mm diameter stainless steel cases and interchangeable straps without diamond accents were also popular choices for both women and men during the early 2000’s. In 2005, TecnhnoMarine introduced the TechnoDiamond Chrono Ceramic, one of the first ceramic watch collections to feature ceramic cases and bracelets in a wide array of colors, outside of black and white.
