What are the grades with regards to Saphratec, Saphire, mineral and coated saphire. Crsystal, and the difference in the automatic engines/

There are four grades of crystals commonly used in watches. Here they are in order from lowest to highest: acrylic, mineral, hybrid and sapphire. Acrylic crystals are an inexpensive plastic that allows shallow scratches to be buffed out. Mineral crystals are composed of several elements that are heat-treated to create an unusual hardness that aids in resisting scratches. Hybrid crystals are synthetic sapphire which is almost as hard as true sapphire but since it is man-made it isn’t nearly as expensive as sapphire. Some companies identify their hybrid crystals with specific names such as Sapphlex (Seiko), Sapphitek (Swiss Legend), Flame-Fusion (Invicta). Sapphire crystals are the most expensive and durable and are virtually scratch-proof. They are also approximately 3 times harder than mineral crystals and 20 times harder than acrylic crystals. A anti-reflective coating is sometimes applied on some sport styles to prevent glare.

With regards to automatic movements, there are several different variations but they basically all work the same. The watch is wound by the motion of the wearer’s arm rather than through turning the winding stem. In response to this motion, a rotor turns and winds the watch’s mainspring. Most automatic watches have up to 36 hours of power reserve. If an automatic watch is not worn for a day or two, it will wind down and need to be wound by hand to get it started again.
