Today marks the 17th Anniversary of Martin Luther King Jr. Day. This relatively new holiday was officially signed into office in 1983 by President Ronald Reagan and has been an official national holiday in all states throughout the nation since 2000. Dr. King is best remembered for his work in the Civil Rights movement during the 1960’s and his tragic death in 1968.
